After years of permanent employment for various companies, I took the step in October 2013 to continue as an independent developer under the name EmDev, which stands for Embedded Development. The two capital spelling is a nod to the programming guild where “Embedded Development” is abbreviated as EmDev.
As a developer of embedded hardware and software I focus on a wide range of activities, mainly working on microcontroller controlled products or small PC applications. I often work from my home address, but if the client wishes and the distance allows, I work on location. Sometimes I work alone, sometimes together with a fellow developer or as a developer in an engineering team.
I like electronics, once as a teenager when I put together my own radio, amplifier or transmitter, but also now when I design customer-specific solutions as a professional. Despite the fact that you sometimes endlessly search for a software bug or hardware problem, because that is part of it.
Every assignment is a new challenge – I hope to continue doing this for years to come…
